VIEW PRODUCT →Parabens are a family of widely used preservative ingredients that help protect cosmetic and personal-care formulations against the growth of bacteria, yeast and mould. They are commonly used individually or in combinations to provide effective preservation across a wide range of water-containing formulations.
Bulk quantities and customized supply requirements are available for professional buyers.
Parabens are esters of p-hydroxybenzoic acid and are widely used as antimicrobial preservatives in cosmetic and personal-care products. The most commonly encountered cosmetic parabens include Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben and Butylparaben. Different members of the paraben family offer different solubility and antimicrobial characteristics, allowing formulators to select or combine grades according to the formulation requirements. U.S. Food and Drug Administration
Parabens are particularly useful in creams, lotions, shampoos, conditioners, cleansing products and other formulations where protection against microbial contamination is required. They may also be combined with other preservative technologies to achieve broader preservation performance.
