Clove Bud Oil

Clove Bud Oil (Syzygium aromaticum) is a natural volatile essential oil obtained by steam distillation of the dried flower buds of the clove tree, a member of the Myrtaceae family. It is generally a clear, colourless to pale-yellow liquid that may darken toward amber during storage and has a characteristic warm, spicy, sweet and phenolic clove aroma.

The oil is naturally dominated by eugenol, with eugenyl acetate and β-caryophyllene as important accompanying constituents. Current specifications for clove bud oil commonly place eugenol around 75–88%, eugenyl acetate around 4–15%, and β-caryophyllene around 5–14%.

Clove Bud Oil is used in fine and functional perfumery, soaps, personal care, oral-care fragrance systems, flavour applications and natural spicy fragrance compositions. COSMILE Europe identifies Eugenia Caryophyllus Flower Oil primarily as a fragrance ingredient
