Almond Butter
Almond Butter is a soft, spreadable botanical cosmetic butter derived from Sweet Almond (Prunus amygdalus dulcis) oil and structured into a semi-solid butter. It provides rich emollience, smooth spreadability and a soft skin feel for skin care, hair care, soap, body-care and cosmetic formulations
Almond Butter is a specialty botanical butter prepared from Sweet Almond Oil and, in many commercial grades, combined with hydrogenated vegetable oils to create a soft, stable butter with good melting and spreading characteristics. A current commercial grade from Hallstar is obtained by cold pressing selected sweet almond seeds, followed by refining and blending with hydrogenated vegetable oils.
The almond oil component is naturally rich in oleic acid and linoleic acid, with palmitic and stearic acids present at lower levels. Published almond-oil data show oleic acid commonly as the major fatty acid, followed by linoleic acid and palmitic acid; exact values vary by cultivar, origin and processing.
The resulting butter has a soft ivory to greenish appearance, mild vegetable odour and a melting range around 44–54°C for the cited commercial grade. It is positioned for creams, lotions, soaps, massage products, balms, hair care and sun-care formulations.
