Argan Butter
Argan Butter is a rich botanical cosmetic butter derived from Argan (Argania spinosa) kernel oil and structured into a soft or firm butter. It combines the emollient properties of argan oil with the texture and consistency of a cosmetic butter, making it suitable for skin care, hair care, body care, color cosmetics and toiletries.
Argan Butter is a specialty botanical butter developed from the lipid-rich kernels of the Argan tree, Argania spinosa. Depending on the commercial grade, the butter may be produced by combining argan kernel oil with hydrogenated vegetable oils, by controlled hydrogenation of argan oil itself, or by blending cold-pressed argan oil with other natural structuring materials.
The argan-oil component is naturally characterized by oleic and linoleic acids, with palmitic and stearic acids as the principal saturated fatty acids. Argan oil also contains a minor unsaponifiable fraction containing tocopherols, sterols and other plant-derived constituents.
Argan Butter is valued for its rich yet spreadable skin feel, emollience and conditioning properties. Current commercial grades are used in skin care, hair care, toiletries, sun care, color cosmetics, lip care, massage products and soaps.
