Bay Leaf Oil
Bay Leaf Oil (Laurus nobilis) is a natural volatile essential oil obtained by steam distillation of the leaves of the Bay Laurel tree, a member of the Lauraceae family. The oil is generally a clear, pale-yellow mobile liquid with a characteristic fresh, herbal, spicy and mildly camphoraceous aroma.
The characteristic volatile profile of Bay Leaf Oil is dominated by 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol), together with α-terpinyl acetate, sabinene, α-pinene, β-pinene and linalool. The exact composition can vary considerably according to geographic origin, season, plant material, drying and distillation conditions.
Bay Leaf Oil is suitable for fragrance, perfumery, soaps, shampoos, grooming products, body care and other personal-care formulations where a fresh green-herbal and spicy aromatic note is desired. The official EU cosmetic glossary recognizes Laurus Nobilis Leaf Oil as a fragrance/perfuming ingredient
