Siberian Fir Needle Oil is a natural volatile essential oil derived from the needles and young terminal branches of Abies sibirica, commonly known as Siberian Fir. The oil is generally colourless to pale yellow and has a fresh, resinous, balsamic and characteristic coniferous aroma.
Its characteristic chemical profile contains significant amounts of bornyl acetate, camphene, α-pinene and δ-3-carene, together with limonene, β-pinene, β-phellandrene and other minor volatile constituents. The relative proportions vary naturally according to geographical origin, plant material and distillation conditions. ISO 10869 provides a dedicated quality standard for Siberian Fir Needle Oil, including physical constants and a normative chromatographic profile.
Siberian Fir Needle Oil is well suited to fragrance compositions, soaps, shampoos, body-care products, personal-care products and home-fragrance systems where a fresh, clean and balsamic coniferous note is desired. COSMILE Europe lists Abies sibirica Oil for fragrance and tonic functions.
